Current Openings

We do not currently have funded PhD or postdoctoral positions available. New funded positions will be advertised here and through the VU Amsterdam vacancies website.

We occasionally supervise Master’s thesis projects and research internships, depending on topic and supervision capacity.

• Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship — Humboldt Foundation fellowship for German researchers working abroad.
• EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship — international mobility in the life sciences.
• HFSP Postdoctoral Fellowship — interdisciplinary and international life-science research.
• DFG Walter Benjamin Programme — postdoctoral research funding for researchers connected to Germany.
• SNSF Postdoc.Mobility — international postdoctoral funding for eligible researchers connected to Switzerland.

PhD Funding

• China Scholarship Council (CSC) — scholarships for eligible Chinese PhD candidates at VU Amsterdam.
• NWO Mosaic — fellowship for PhD candidates with a non-western background who wish to pursue doctoral research in the Netherlands.
• Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD Fellowship — PhD funding for experimental biomedical research.
• National and international PhD scholarships — we also welcome candidates funded by scholarship programmes from their home country.

Eligibility rules and deadlines vary, so please consult the relevant funder before applying.

Who We Are Looking For

We value curiosity, careful science, quantitative thinking, collaboration, and a willingness to learn. Previous experience with neuroimaging, eye tracking, programming, or computational modelling can be useful, but we do not expect everyone to arrive with the same background.

We want BCN Lab to be a place where people with different backgrounds, identities, disciplines, and routes into science can thrive and contribute. We particularly welcome prospective team members from groups that remain underrepresented in cognitive neuroscience.
